The Facts about the Cardboard Crusher in a Nutshell

The cardboard crusher is otherwise also known as a cardboard baler or cardboard compactor. Whatever its name, the cardboard crusher must compress cardboard into a compact box for ease of handling. You can conveniently store or transport the cardboard after crushing it into a manageable shape or size.

You will find the cardboard crusher in a warehouse or in a recycling company, where there is a lot of cardboard that needs to be disposed of. The crusher can make the cardboard or bale into the specific size that you require. You may need to use wire or other binding equipment to keep it in the required shape after the crushing process. The size of your bale will, of course, be decided by the capacity of your cardboard crusher.

The way the cardboard crusher works is pretty much the same, in that the machine will crush the cardboard against a flat surface to get the shape and size the machine is capable of producing. But you can find two types of the machines,

  • One type is vertical and

  • The other is horizontal.

By this, it simply means that the hydraulic arm of the machine will either crush the cardboard down, if it is vertical, and it will press sideways if it is a horizontal machine.

The Process

In the process of compressing the cardboard, first, the cardboard must be collected in a bin or container. Once the bin is full, you will close it so that the cardboard does not escape out. After this, the machine is turned on and the cardboard is crushed or compressed into a shape and size which is convenient for disposal. You may not be able to lift the bale as it will be heavy after compacting. You will need to use a forklift or other equipment to lift and store the cardboard for disposal. Your machine may even have a system to remove the bale from the machine.

Where are these crushers used?

You will find that the cardboard crusher is used in industries or places where there is a lot of cardboard waste which needs to be disposed of. For instance in a cardboard manufacturing unit or in a waste disposal system, such as in municipal waste management. Once the bales are compacted into squares you will find them easy to stack, store or transport for further recycling or disposal.

What is the advantage of using the crusher?

  • Removing the cardboard from waste reduces the cost of waste disposal.

  • Your company gets additional income from selling cardboard.

  • You are able to reduce labor costs when the machine handles the cardboard.

  • You reduce fire hazard and so have a better work environment.

  • You have the quick disposal of waste.

  • Less mess, so the work area is neat.

The impact on the environment from the manufacture and proper waste disposal is an important concern of industries today. The cardboard crusher helps in proper waste disposal and recycling. In the USA alone, about 90% of products are packed in cardboard or corrugated boxes. Anywhere in the world, the safe recycling of cardboard will benefit the environment greatly.
