Shred or granulation? Which one is more suitable?

Granulation, chopping, shredding, and grinding are common names for size reduction task of the byproduct scrap during plastic processing. All the facilities related to plastics processing make both the startup waste, plus the scrap due to the imperfection of the product that gets rejected.

The successful reclaiming for the scraps can make a huge difference concerning the loss or profit made. Although, for the scraps to be worth it, either for selling or recycling back to the process, it has to be manageable and reduced. Consequently, the shredding equipment and cable granulators are needed to get that job done.

Granulator

Granulators are the usual positions concerning plants in the plastics processing, and they are usually 2 groups. Also, the beside-the-machine type of models can grind a small amount of sprues, off-spec parts, runners, and edge trimming. There are also other models like cable granulator, and central granulators, which were put in the room that didn't allow employer call. They are bigger and stronger, which can be used for chopping large volumes.

Shredder

On the other hand, Shredding equipment operates slower at the speed of around 100 rpm and it has a high torque that makes sure about chewing anything. And that explains why a shredding equipment is related to recycling of many materials such as metal, paper, and wood, and why they are so needed in plastic recycling. This equipment can be found in single-shaft designs or dual-shaft model.

Actually, both of them can be used

It is true that shredders and granulators work differently. However, there is no problem if used together, be it cable granulator or other model. The user doesn't have to choose just one as he can choose both. For instance, the shredding equipment can be used for the size - reduction, and the scrap is finalized by the Granulator. Using both of them provides more effective results.
